CCS Cards - physical or digital

“I Am A Tactile Person” – Until This Happens!

Leonie Cutts

I was talking to a long time facilitator friend and showed him our digital CCS Cards.

His first reaction – “I’m a tactile person”.

This is not an unusual response. Many facilitators say the same thing. And I get it. I’m a tactile person too.

My happy place is in the room, with eager participants, engaging in a face to face workshop.

And we know we don’t always get what we want.

The phone call from a new client said it all.

They love the physical cards. They want to use them with their client as a way to explore what the client needs in the new project. A great use of the cards.

Problem is, only half the group will be in the room.

They love the tactile.

They chose the tactile – the physical cards.

AND they chose the digital cards too.

Their preference was to be in-room, with all their clients. But they couldn’t manage it. So, they knew that to achieve the outcome they wanted, they had to have both the physical and the digital cards. It made sense.

If you are able to have in-room, in person experiences, we would say to use the physical cards … mostly. Digital cards offer some advantages here too – like:

  • nothing to carry (or to pack up or check afterwards)
  • easy recording of choices
  • very economical
  • flexible choice of image card set
  • available if you decide last minute – ‘this is a job for the cards!’

So if you have hybrid sessions, or online sessions, and want the impact that the cards give you in person – then you pretty much have to have the digital cards in your tool kit.

My favourite experience of this was when I had a team day lined up. It was the team’s first time together in one room. It was a day to set them up for success, to talk about their values, their needs and their aspirations. It was important for them all to be in the one room.

Then the dreaded thing happened: Two people called in saying they had to work from home due to family commitments and would not be able to be in-person for the session.

It was so important that they were involved in the session and also be part of it in the same way as those in the room. When I was able to share the digital CCS Cards with them, the problem was solved. They were included and as much a part of the session as everyone in the room.

As the facilitator in that moment I felt great – I had the tools I needed to get the job done well – under any circumstance. And the participants – well they felt very much a part of the team.

This is not a sales pitch. Just a prompt to give the digital cards a go if you haven’t already.

We are on hand to help as well.

You can book in to have a chat with Craig to find out how it might suit you and your business.

Or you can join Dr Cathryn Lloyd and me to experience them at our online event: Unwrap: Your Year In Motion, or our workshop: The Visual Shift: From Zoomed-out to Tuned-In.
